Houston Real Estate

Houston real estate is booming. With current low interest rates making financing more affordable, now may be an excellent time to purchase real estate in Houston.

Family Housing:

There are many newly built family housing units in Houston, especially on the west side of the city. There is also family housing that has been around for several decades. A real estate agent, or a family member or friend that is familiar with the area will be able to guide you to some of the better neighborhoods. If you are moving into the area for a job, and know no one, you may want to rent for a while or ask your co-workers where they live. You don’t want to be stuck in a neighborhood that you don’t enjoy living in.

Multi-unit housing:

Houston is home to many apartments, duplexes, and other types of multi-unit housing. You can find an apartment by using an apartment guide, or by contacting a Houston realtor. If you use a real estate agent to help you find an apartment, you will usually not be charged. Agents make their money from the owner of the apartment if you decide to rent.

Duplexes and other multi-unit housing in Houston may be used as an investment. Many people will live in one unit in the housing, and rent out the remaining units. Doing this has its advantages and disadvantages. You are able to make money, as long as you have someone renting. If you don’t have a renter, you may have to pay more monthly than your budget allows.

Luxury real estate in Houston:

When you think of luxury Houston real estate, you may think of large estates, or a large mansion house. But Houston, like many other large cities, is home to luxury apartments and condominiums. These apartments and condos can be a great place to live, or a wonderful investment opportunity.

Many beautiful subdivisions, such as Bayou Woods and Sherwood Forest, have been around for decades. Luxury homes are still being built. Tanglewood and Carlton Woods are two, but there are many more. These homes are worth well over one million dollars, and go into the six million dollar range. Many of these large, elegant homes come with pools, large garages, and thousands of square feet.

The commercial side of Houston real estate:

If you own a business and are looking for a new office, office building, warehouse, or other commercial property, you can choose from buying a multi-million dollar office building to leasing a small office or warehouse. Whatever your need, no matter what building you choose, make sure that you walk through the building looking for structural and other problems the building(s) may have. You will also want a building inspector to look at every detail of the building. Commercial real estate of any type or size is a major expense and you should take every step to insure that you are purchasing property that is worth the price you are paying, which means you should have the property appraised after it is inspected.
